Whole Foods

Lincoln Property Company

Location: Addison, Texas

The Whole Foods Market store is a new retail property at Village on the Parkway shopping community, located at the corner of the North Dallas Tollway and Belt Line Road in Addison, Texas.

The new building provides 40,000 SF of retail space for Whole Foods Market’s signature natural and organic foods, and includes a bakery, grill, coffee shop and café area. The building also includes a 4,000 SF mezzanine for offices, training rooms and additional café seating.

The blend of finishes to the store emphasize Whole Foods Market’s organic / natural philosophy and mirror the color palette and luxurious style of the Village on the Parkway development. Most of the building is finished with textured paint. The store’s front and portions of its sides are clad in stone. The double-height entryway features roof-in windows and is covered in Nichiha fiber cement VintageWood™ siding. The fiber cement siding is carried up to the screen wall on the roof. The screen wall, which surrounds the HVAC equipment for the grocery store, provides a large space to showcase Whole Foods Market’s signature logo and increase visibility for the property.

Attached to the back of the Whole Foods Market is a building that includes 14,000 SF of additional speculative retail space designed to accommodate up to five independent stores. This retail space faces north to give the development a front along Belt Line Road and screens the view of the grocery service areas from that frontage.

The Whole Foods Market store was constructed with tilt-up construction. The front of the building features a deep canopy spanning the front of the store to accommodate cafe seating and the outdoor display of products.

The Whole Foods Market store and its parking area were built in the space formerly occupied by a 150,000 SF three-story department store and part of Lincoln Property Company’s revitalization and rebranding of this retail complex. Where the old building faced north, with its back to the remaining stores in the complex and its parking to the north along Beltline Road, the new Whole Foods store stands over the location of the old parking lot and faces south. The new parking is to the south of the new store (where the old building used to be), toward the center of the shopping complex.

The purpose of this repositioning was to emphasize the new building’s role as an anchor store at the northwest corner of Village on the Parkway, drawing visitors to the interior of the retail community and its other stores.

By repositioning the store and parking lot, Lincoln Properties also created overflow parking for the interior stores and visually connected the new building to the other stores. Further, through the addition of decorative landscape islands and an elegant stone walkway across the parking lot, the project added visual accents to carry Village on the Parkway’s upscale feel throughout area.

Lincoln Property Company added a 622-space five-story parking garage in the southwest corner of Village on the Parkway, all so built by Bob Moore Construction
