Bob Moore Construction Wins Chris Kyle Trophy At Fundraising Competition For Boot Campaign
Arlington General Contractor Takes First Place at Private Fundraising Event for National Nonprofit Organization That Promotes Patriotism and Supports American Veterans and Their Families
ARLINGTON, TEXAS - June 22, 2015 - Bob Moore Construction’s team has received the Chris Kyle Trophy for winning the third annual “Redneck Triathlon”, a private fundraising event sponsored by Boot Campaign, a national nonprofit that promotes patriotism, raises awareness of military issues and provides vital assistance for our nation’s heroes and their families.
The Redneck Triathlon, which took place on June 6, 2015, featured 24 teams sponsored by an elite group of businesses in north Texas. Each team was comprised of representatives from their company, matched up with a combat veteran.
The triathlon featured two dozen challenges that involved shooting, fishing or golf. The challenges included balloon launches, bow and arrow shooting, noodling and chipping golf balls at targets like a washing machine and a barrel.
As the team with the most points at the end of the event, Bob Moore Construction’s team - “Bob Moore Bubbas” - earned bragging rights and possession of the Chris Kyle Trophy for the next year. Their team name will also added to the base of the trophy as a permanent commemoration of their success.
Bob Moore Bubbas included Bob Moore Construction’s Ed McGuire and Kyle Whitesell, Victor Marshall with Osburn Contractors and John McManus with Contractors Iron & Steel I, LLC. The team was joined by Marine veteran Chris Gough from Trophy Club, Texas.
This event was originally conceived by renowned Fort Worth Chef Jon Bonnell, his brother Ric Bonnell and friend Dan Roberts, who envisioned a private, exclusive event where local business leaders could spend a day bonding with veterans and raising money to support veterans in need. Since then, the Bonnell family has hosted these events at their Walsh Ranch in Aledo, Texas. This year’s Redneck Triathlon was brought by title sponsor Scott O’Neal, president of Keg 1 LLC in Weatherford, Texas.
While the tone of the Texas Redneck Triathlon is light-hearted, it serves a serious purpose in raising funds for Boot Campaign, a leading non-profit organization that supports veterans and their families. This year’s Redneck Triathlon raised almost $100,000 for Boot Campaign.
Boot Campaign also sponsors an annual Boot’N & Shoot’N competition, a clay shooting competition that is open to the public.
“It’s awesome that Bob Moore Construction won the triathlon as a first-time participant,” said Christina DeLaTorre, Fundraising and Event Director for Boot Campaign. “Their valued support will help Boot Campaign further our military assistance programs.”
“When I heard about the Redneck Triathlon I knew immediately that we would want to participate,” said Ed McGuire, President of Bob Moore Construction. “We could not be more proud than to support Boot Campaign and its efforts to provide awareness of and financial support in response to our veterans’ challenges and needs. It is always a great experience when you can spend the day with positive, patriotic members of our business community. It’s also quite gratifying and humbling to share time and friendship with our heroes, the combat veterans who have done so much for us.
“Participating in the Redneck Triathlon was a lot of fun as well,” Mr. McGuire added. “We were in it to win it from the beginning, and it was exciting to bring the Chris Kyle Trophy home for the next year.“
Boot Campaign is seeking additional sponsors for next year’s Redneck Triathlon. If you are interested in sponsoring a team, please contact Christina DeLaTorre at email@example.com
