The Staff Accountant plays a key role in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency within the organization. Reporting directly to senior accounting leadership, the Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing financial reports, maintaining accurate financial systems, assisting with budget reviews, and ensuring regulatory compliance. This role is vital for maintaining the integrity and transparency of the company’s financial operations, supporting the organization’s broader goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and implementing financial controls aligned with company policies.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure accuracy in financial systems, including AR/AP, General Ledger, Payroll, Job Costing, Fixed Assets, and WIP Schedules.
- Coordinate annual budgeting processes and monthly financial forecasting.
- Assist in evaluating and implementing new financial systems and reporting tools.
- Collaborate closely with project teams and department leads, providing financial insights and support.
- Monitor and manage lien waiver requirements for subcontractor and supplier payments.
- Ensure strict compliance with local, state, and federal financial and tax regulations.
- Maintain high accuracy and customer service standards within the accounting team.
- Serve as a resource for employees regarding financial questions and concerns.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance – required
- CPA – preferred, not required
- Construction Accounting Background – preferred, not required
- Extensive experience in Excel with competencies in Pivot Tables, V-lookups, and other key spreadsheet functions
